Cowboy Town, here i come!~

Google Map is one of the best things that ever came into my life! Even my boss agrees, and uses it diligently!

Well, for the past few days, i was away from the island for an assignment. I was placed in the 'cowboy town'.

Yes, the town with 15 candidates vying to get the state seat here! Many of us are currently here to cover their events, press conference, walkabout, etc as the polling day for the by-election draws closer.

It's like 15 kids playing the musical chair. I really wonder how things would go like.

Will anyone of the candidates pullout from the race? The EC said they are given until tomorrow to withdraw and still get back some of their deposits.

The new Umno deputy president said that the by-elections going on it's not a referendum on the new leadership in the party, while PKR said all's good - it's just a fight between PR and BN, which they will win.

I think if any of the 13 candidates win this, it would be an interest result. But all eyes are set at the parliamentary seat in Perak. Hmmm... will Nizar win? I've leave that to the Perak people to decide.

Vote for change!

And tomorrow will be another long day for me in this 'Cowboy Town'. Yeah.

Bowling with fun!

Melissa D and i were out bowling with the rest of the Courage and Passion cell group members as well as several friends of theirs.

Being rusty for not bowling for awhile, it was fun getting a strike and a couple of spares in the two games. My girl really had a ball and competitive as we were all playing in several lanes in Bukit Jambul Shopping Complex.

She did scored better than i did, but i was glad she did have a great time.

Looks like we might be going out for more bowling matches in the near future!~

Can you send me to the bank?

As i was making my way out of work just now, i was approached by an elderly woman, who tapped my car door window.

She asked for a lift to the nearest bus-stop, as she needed to go to the bank and cash in some money.

"I don't look like someone who would rob you, right?" she asked. And i was trying to remember if there was any stories of a young man being overpowered by an senior citizen and was robbed off his pants.

So, cautiously, with a open heart, i decided to let the lady in.

Since she needed to get to a bus-stop to get on a bus to the bank, i offered to drive her there instead of waiting a bus. She was more than delighted to get a lift for me.

Long story short, we chatted as we made our way to Standard Chartered bank in Beach Street, and i dropped her off there.

I felt light-hearted and good. I guess being kind in a world where it's every man for himself and dog-eat-dog, stopping for awhile and helping those who are in need is good for the soul. It's banking goodness to your conscience.

Makan well!

Beginning of this week, a lady from a health screening centre showed up at the office to provide free blood pressure and urine test. (Since it's free!) several of my colleagues and i, took the test.

From the results of the test, i found out that i'm a slightly above the pulse per min rate (i think i was rushing for my assignment, hence the elevated heart-rate) and needed to reduce my protein intake and drink more water.

I need to improve my diet.

Yesterday, several colleagues of mine from KL were here in the island for some presentation of our company to several current and potential clients. And several of them commented that i need to lose weight, not to mention Melissa D said this same thing (again).

I need to improve my diet and lose weight.

But on a lighter note, both Melissa D and i had good dinner with Joash and Su Chen last weekend, and we had fun chatting over half-homemade dinner. It was four hours of quality time well spent!

I wish we could have dinner sessions again with them before they leave for KL... and also with other friends of us.

I need to improve my diet, lose weight and hang out with more people!

Well, there're a lot of things to do in life, and i'm taking it one day at at time.

P/S Marley and Me is a good movie. A touching tear-jerker!

Tired?

An exhaust pipe which fell off a motorcycle, lying like a tired dog on the road.
Wonder why is it on the road.
Maybe it could no longer hang on.
Maybe it was exhausted about life.
Maybe it was hit hard by circumstances.

Whatever it is, there's a bike out there fuming away, as it leaves one part of it behind.

Note: This has nothing to do with the DCM (I) here submitting his resignation to the state government. He's under a lot of pressure, but i'm clueless of why he resigned. You got any clue?

She would be 52 today.

On the way back here to the island, i was reminiscing as i was going across the bridge to the island from my hometown.

I do miss my family and friends.

Yes, I'm saying it again, as this is the price i pay to be here.

But let me reiterate this, despite how i feel, KL has been doing fine without me. And by the looks of it, i'm not really needed there.

But here on the island, i've got a job to do. I've got responsibilities to carry out, and person(s) who need me here.

I'm just speaking my mind out. Care to prove me wrong?

Title - Peace

There're a tonnes of thoughts rushing through my head, like a bullet trains passing by a station one after another. Both good and bad, they just come gushing and leave as quickly as it arrives.

You can call it an emotional roller-coaster.

I love my girl, i love my job, where i am now in this juncture of my life. But things just don't always go as planned. Sometimes, i feel hopeless, helpless and powerless as things come crashing down at unexpected times. I strongly believe that life's simple, but circumstances make it darn difficult.

Sometimes, i feel like i walk amongst them, but i am not one of them.

But one thing for sure, i'm in dire need of God. To just spend time with Him and surrender all my burdens, thoughts and trouble to Him. I need His grace and mercy; and to be revitalised in His presence. I need peace and comfort from God.

I was in the music team retreat last weekend, together with Melissa D, Wai Kit, Joshua Lam, Paul, Michelle, and the rest; and i did enjoy myself! This weekend, i'll be back in KL to meet up with friends.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

Psalm 23, NIV

Moooovies!

"Your life is defined by its opportunities... even the ones you miss."

Benjamin Button from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

In the past week days, Melissa D and i watched a few movies, in light of the Oscars ceremony this year(then). So, one of the first movie we decided to watch was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

It's a story of Benjamin (played by Brad Pitt), who was born old, and ages backwards. Narrated from a diary read by 'his daughter' before Hurricane Katrina, it portrays his story of the events he lived through and the lives he came across, including the love of his life, Daisy (Cate Blanchett).

While i was watching it, i suspected how it would end, but it was a good movie, nonetheless. But The Curious Case of Benjamin Button might have won more Oscars if it wasn't for Slumdog Millionaire.

On Friday, Melissa D, Aunty Moy and myself watched this 'underdog' movie which won EIGHT Oscars this year, including Best Motion Picture of the Year; Best Achievement in Cinematography; Best Achievement in Directing; Best Achievement in Editing; Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score and Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song (both of these received by A.R. Rahman!); Best Achievement in Sound and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published.

A scene from Slumdog Millionaire

The story of 18-year old orphan Jamal Malik, who serves tea (chaiwalah) at a call centre in Mumbai, joined "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" game show (to get the attention of the girl he loves, Latika). Ironically, almost every question asked throughout the game, was related to his childhood, as he and his brother Salim, who grew up in the slums. It is as if, all the answers in the gameshow was written.

The whole movie was entertaining, and like (almost) every Indian movie (or movie filmed in India), there is a dance scene! A must watch!

And recently, on Tuesday night, both Melissa D and i watched Seven Pounds, starring Will Smith.

A story about a 'tax collector' who has a secret past, and tries to change the lives of seven strangers, 'who deserve his help'. The story's slow-pace, and if you don't get the clues and flashbacks throughout the movie, you might not fully comprehend the story. But if you do, it's a real touching story! And i have to say, it is a good movie!~

"In seven days, God created the world. And in seven seconds, I shattered mine."

Ben Thomas from Seven Pounds.

Hmmm...
i'm still looking forward to watching Watchmen, Burn After Reading and Terminator Salvation.

Decisions, decisions.

Just received this via email from my former classmate, and i've decided to up this up to wipe off your Monday blues.

Sometimes, this is what i face, not only being with Melissa D, but with everyone else as well. Remember, the weekend is just five days away. Have a great week!~
