Love: Thrown Away (ver 1.2)

While lovey-dovey people were busy tossing oranges into ponds and rivers, me, my colleague and a few dozen reporters were busy getting the MCA parliamentary candidate list and latest news at Wisma MCA. As chaotic and busy the whole scene was, it was worth getting a front page shared-byline (and having two stories published)!

But this is not what i really want to blog about. It was more of what day is it because it's the Chinese Valentine's Day - Chop Goh Mei, which marks the end of Chinese New Year.

What i want to point out is that darn popular proposal that happened last week. I believe no one would forget David Tan, the Malaysian Cassanova who made headlines by proposing to his girlfriend, Kelly Tan with the "RM40,000" billboard and RM14,000 engagement ring! Click HERE for more info.

This is the numbskull who raised the level of expectation of women or around for mere mortal gentlemen. It's foreseeable in the future, if guys can't live up to expectations, girls will said,"How come you cannot be like David Tan?! So romantic!"

I guess picture is no stranger to bloggers/newspaper readers/LDP highway users.

Many would argue (including girls) that the money would have been better well spent on things like a house or a car. We can only imaging being able to spend that much at one go! Joanne Lee said it would be more romantic if they both flew to Paris and he made the proposal there with the money.

But then again, it's his money, his life, his girl (soon-to-be wife), his way and his ad. Perhaps he takes the cake for outrages proposals ever done in Malaysia; he deserves the credit.

Anyway, i heard my colleagues joking about this, before the news was published, and if Kelly were to say yes, David, in a month's time, would splurge more cash and put this up.

It's possible, ya?

For me, a hopeless, pessimitic romantic, i can't imaging myself doing anything romantic, what more something this huge, for a girl. I don't see such future for me, i think.

But I cant help falling in love with you
Shall I stay
Would it be a sin
If I cant help falling in love with you..."

Spammed Calls and Swelled Sushi (ver 1.5)

"Hello, you're Mr Bernard Cheah, right?
"...I got your number from your friend...."

This was part of the conversation i had with telemarketer from True Fitness, who wanted to give me a free one-week trial membership. And as usual, i declined, citing that i'm really busy and if i ever had free time to go to their gym, i would be attending another more important matters in my already-messed-up life.

But what really pissed me off was the fact that she couldn't tell me who gave my name to the company. For all we know, they got my number from someone or somewhere without my knowledge, and i personally think this is an invasion of privacy!

After she explained about some mumbo-jumbo yoga classes and other offers available, i declined the offer.

As much as i want to be buffed, i know it's no way possible to do it in a short time. And with the constraint of both time and money, i don't think i would be joining a gym anytime soon.

Buffed (taken from Kevan's blog)

If i ever get hold of the person who gave my name to them, i would smack his/her head with a dumbbell a couple dozen times.

On a brighter note, a few of the youths and i celebrated Ivan's farewell party at Sakae Sushi in The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Oddly enough, the same branch in Bangsar Village 2 isn't as classy as this one.

With Angeline, Carmen, Caroline, Daniel Loo, Gillian, Fook Sim, Ignatius, Jocelyn, John Rueben, KEVAN Justin botak, Nicholas, and Sui Li feasting together as we wish him off, it was a barrel of fun and laughter, as we ate sushi, chat and ate more wasabi-ed sushi! It was hilarious to see the faces of those who can't actually take the heat.

And the night ended with a few of us went for mango shaved ice dessert near Low Yat Plaza.

*Sigh* I shouldn't have too much food at night!

*burp*

Barely Breathing

Strip taken from Kubo Tite's manga Bleach (Chapter 102: Nobody Beats)

The past few weeks have been really hectic as the workload keeps on coming in, and not much churned out. And the long breaks including the recent Chinese New Year wasn't of much help as i didn't really get a chance to have a serious chill.

The tension in my right arm is acting up again. Sleep has not been of much help. And if i don't keep focus, i fear i'll loss focus and experience anxiety attack!

What more with the parliament dissolved and the 12th General Election coming up, the silence after the storm is ending soon as my colleagues and i are to be on our toes to catch what will happen next.

But my bigger concern isn't how i would cover anything and everything about the elections, but where i would be in the future.

"...Blurring and stirring
the truth and the lies
(So I don't know what's real)
So I don't know what's real and what's not (and what's not)
Always confusing the thoughts in my head
So I can't trust myself anymore

I'm dying again

I'm going under (going under)
Drowning in you (drowning in you)
I'm falling forever (falling forever)
I've got to break through..."

Excerpt from Going Under by Evanescence

P/S: I found a RM50 note on the floor in Lot 10. But before i could shout for joy, i have to pay for the RM80 fine for mis-parking in Bandar Sunway. *sigh*

Mane No More, Not Man No More!

I've got friends who have such awesome hair.

For a person who adores long hair, i had to get a haircut.

It has been a month since i went to the hairstylist, and came out with the short hairstyle, seemingly similar to the one i got in high school.

This look got a mixed reaction, from praises and complements to shocks of horrors. Many of the older women who knows me gave good comments about it, while the youths at church said otherwise.

For a person who adores dreadlocks, it's a painful sacrifice i had to make. One of my bosses got me to do so.

I felt obliged. But hey, after all, I'm under probation; six months probation. For now, i just have to suck it up and just enjoy the flow.

I've got friends with such hair.

But hey, six months is enough to re-grow my hair into its full glory once again.

Anyway, Happy Chinese New Year to all the readers celebrating this festival (those happily receiving those bountiful red packets and those sulkily giving them away).
