Farewell, Eunice. Part 2: goodbye to you.

Well, it has been a week. A week as pass just as you blink your eye. Another week as passed us by. What have we done in the pass one week? The choices we make, the things we do. A week as passed. A week, since Eunice left for UK.

Yes… and I was not there to send her off. I guess many off us were busy then. Her flight was 12 pm, boarding time at 11. I wanted to go, but I heard there wasn’t enough transport to bring us back from KLIA. Plus, I woke up late that day. I should have slept earlier the night before.

Anyway, Eunice is not with us anymore… kind of missing her by the moment. No more irritating voices, pushing you to do something. And the silly giggle and dumb comments she makes. Plus, my brother doesn’t go out as that often… hmm…. I’m not implying anything here!

I miss you, Eunice! Do comeback soon, ok? And tell me where in United Kingdom you are. I have the slights idea!

*and I say,
goodbye to you,
goodbye to everything I knew,
you are the one that I love,
the one thing that I try to hold on to…*

Extracts of GOODBYE TO YOU, Michelle Branch

hmmm.... it's interesting with what one you can do if you have a clever, witty younger brother and a photo-editting program. Justin's not showing anything bad... and Kevan. well... did i mention i have a cool photo-editting program? Posted by Hello

JUST DEAD TIRED!

Well, it’s weird… I have not done a lot today, but I’m feeling fatigue. My whole body’s aching. It is as if a group of boxers decided to hang me up and used me as a punching bag! my aching body! Probably it was because of the bowling and parapara game I played yesterday.

Oh, yeah! Yesterday, I went out with a bunch of my university friends (Danny, Woei Tyan, CY, Leanne, Jocelyn and Mae Kian) to catch PRINCESS DIARIES 2: ROYAL ENGAGEMENT. It was ok lah, an average Disney family movie. But do watch the 1st part, PRINCESS DIAIRES to really understand what’s going on.

But the worst part was not a lot of people get the show. Most of the laughter came from my friends and I. I guess the show has a lot of American jokes lah. So, if you enjoy watching a chick flick, have a great sense of humor and have a western mindset, this is a movie for you. I give it 6 out of 10.
(this “review” is done as requested by Fook Ming!)

And it has been awhile since I played bowling. Wasn’t that good lah, since I haven’t touched a bowling ball for about a year, but at least I didn’t lose to Danny! Hahaha!~

And it seems my whole body’s aching. That’s why I can’t post another blog. I have a lot to write in mind, but just no mood to output it! The other reason why I can’t post another blog is because I had a bad internet connection today. plus, I’m just dead tired.

Guess I’ll just hit the sack early… not early in the morning! Got a whole day before me tomorrow!

The Three Amigos! Kevan, Justin and Bernard! BBQ is life! Posted by Hello

me at my youth group BBQ party a couple of weeks back. am i eating CHARCOAL or meat there? (PS i know some people are dying to see me and my short hair! hahaha!~ not now!) Posted by Hello

i cut my hair (THE PREQUEL): i had long hair.

It’s my dream. It has always been my dream to have long hair after I get out of school. This is due because I was in an all-boy school for 11 years (both primary and secondary). I shaved my head once and always had short hair, where I would comb it to the left side, not middle parting. All I could do was waited for my form 5 live to end. Then, the life of a guy with long hair shall begin. It is my dream.

So, I started this little assignment of mine after I left school. Day after day, I just left it the way it is. And it was long. But I do visit the barber once in awhile. It was short for awhile. Then, the real assignment started! I stopped making my rounds to the barber, and left my hair the way it is. It was slow, but my hair did grow lah. And in the middle of 2003, I could tie my tail! I was blissful!

So, when I grew my hair that long, many people asked why I did so. I had a sack full of answers to tell them. So, I replied:

“It’s too typical to have short hair.”
“Common sight among guys to have short hair.”
“I want a change!”
“I can’t have this hairstyle once I work.”
“I’m young, and I want to be wild!”
And the list goes on….

Then the feedbacks from the others came about:

“Wow! Cool hair!”
“Oh, we have another gal here!”
“I like it!”
“Jiwa rock!”
“Why you leave your hair so long lah?”
“Look at his mane.”
Giggle, giggle.

Well, with perseverance and ignorance (or would I say, indifference?), I left my hair the way it is. Sometimes I would tie a braid or two, sometimes tied up. Till that day.

And the rest is history.

my blog: RE-edited.

I have posted about more than 10 blogs up to date. And there are a lot of people reading it. Among them are my friend, Danny, and his mom. So, Danny said his mom said there are typos in it… so; I took the last half hour editing it. And to my horror, there were indeed a lot of spelling error (capital letters aren’t included). Now, the blog is much better!

Thank you, Aunty!

So, I’ve decided from now onwards to use Microsoft Word to type my blog before posting it.

And I am still updating and improving this blog. Joanne has just added in my name as a link in hers. So, what I wanna improve in my blog by adding that feature in it….

Keep on viewing, ok? And do post a comment or two!

and if you know how to inprove a blog, help me... PLEASE?

i cut my hair (PART 3): i got my hair RE-cut

ever since I could tied my long hair, I’ve been wondering what kind of hair i wanted. Either Bob Marley's reggae dreadlocks, or Guy Sebastian’s afro like hair. But my entire dream has been cut short. To be more exact, my hair has been cut short.

Yup, a couple of days ago, I got my hair cut short at the hair saloon. And for awhile, I was ok with it... till I looked at myself too often, and I get one comment too many about it. Those who've seen it are horrified. So, I’ve decided to get it trimmed again, or rather, *repaired*. like what Kevan does after receiving not so nice comments about his new hairstyle.

So, I found myself at the hair saloon again today. I was there in the afternoon, when I wanted to be there about 10 am. (What a sleepy head I am!) So, my dad sent me there. On the way, he said that I should have got a haircut a long time ago. The fact that he hasn't been telling me to go to the barber for a long time doesn't change the fact that he wants to see me with short hair. And I swear that I saw a grin on his face all the way to the saloon.

and here i am in the saloon again. And the hairstylist had that oh-that-guy-who's-beyond-redemption-kind-of-hair-is-back look. Anyway, I told him that I didn't enjoy the fact i have that kind of hair, since it has long fringes, and like what Justin said, "Neither short nor long kind of hairstyle." so, i told him i wanted to have a shorter fringe, sides shaved, and shorter hair. The kind of hair where you can spike it up. the hairstylist seems to understand what i told him, input it into his head, processed it and his hands holding the scissors and comb began to move. From front to back, right to left.

a few minutes later, it's done. I have a new look. He even offers to gel my hair up. Now, how nice can a hairstylist be?

"it's the CQ look," he said.

CQ? what the heck is CQ? a cheap imitation of CALVIN KLIEN? Or Cute and Quiet? But the bottom line is, I have my hair cut again, and it's better than the last one (i think.) plus, since this was a repair job, he declined me paying me. A walked out a twice the happy man I am!

so, what I’ve learn from this experience is:

1. If possible, try bringing a friend to the barbershop with you. He/she could either praise/condemn the way you look, before the whole world does.
2. Repairs are free, but has to be done within a week.
3. Never piss off a hairstylist, cause how you look partly depend on him/her.

my hair now seems to be short and neat. A sight many friends of mine have yet to see (or eager to find out!). So, this is the story of my life... with short hair. And now, where did I put my afro wig?

Resolution solution.

i heard this deejay over RADIO 4 late last night. Or early this morning, depends on how you look at it. And he mentions something about coming to the end of the year... yeah, it's the 23rd of September, and we're entering October soon. And in a couple of month’s time, 2005 will appear. I know, some of you maybe shocked that time past by us too fast. And it seems like yesterday that we celebrated New Year 2004 or Chinese New Year... we're in the same boat.

ok... back to the point. The deejay also said something about New Year’s resolution. And he says he plans not to, cause he doesn't believe in them.

New Year's Resolution.

what is it that on New Year's eve or on that day itself, people starts making wishes, or take out a whole list of resolutions for the year? Perhaps the feeling of the-new-year-should-start-off-better attitude?

according to some research i read in June, about half the total number of people stick to their resolution... and only 10% of that actually stick to it. So, why make one in the 1st place when you may get sick of it or fail to accomplish it later in the year? Wouldn’t it just waste you time? Or your money? It implies the same this phrase :

*if practice makes prefect, and nobody's perfect, why practice?*

I don't have a grudge against people making resolutions. I think determining a course of action to achieve a long or short term goal is good. But why make it on a new year?

have you ever though of making it perhaps in the middle of the year, or anytime of the year for that matter? Just think of whatever you want or need to get done, and make that a resolution. For example, I think with my weight of more than 85 kg, I’m overweight (no points for guessing how heavy i am!) I feel like pushing it down to 80 kg by the end of the year. There! That’s a resolution for you! And to achieve the goal, i should exercise more often, eat healthier and live a more balanced lifestyle.

so, the point is, it actually doesn't matter when the resolution is made. the point is whether you KEEP THAT IN MIND AND ACCOMPLISHING IT! that is the what everyone should think of before making a resolution. Thus, they wouldn't be disappointed for not completing it. It all boils down to the effort and discipline you have within.

*yawn*

I’m tired... well, my resolution next year would be not to make any resolution next year.

this is one of the movies that i really waiting for to come out. FINAL FANTASY VII: ADVENT CHILDREN!~ Posted by Hello

i cut my hair PART 2: i got my hair cut.

Now, this is a continuation of what happened after I cut my hair. Cause what happened after that wasn’t a nice experience.

Well, what I learnt from this ordeal is these :

1. If you aren’t good at doing something, don’t do it.
2. Never assume that doing something that you’re not good will actually help the professionals do it.
3. Unless you know how to cut your own hair,
never ever do it!

The story of my life…. I cut my own hair. How dumb can I be? I myself can’t fathom the possibility of it. And this is one of the dumbest thing of all dumb things I’ve ever done!~ well, at least I have a story I can tell others. It was plain idiotic.

And the look of it… now, where should I start. It was unpleasant. Imagine
Anyway, I did go to the hairstylist after that. I drove myself to the hair at around 2:00 pm. I walked into the saloon, and I had this feeling the hairstylists and customer were looking at me. I guess I was labeled “hair disaster dude” with the way I look. When it was my turn to get my hair cut, the hairstyles gave me a look. A weird look. The kind of looks that says, “Boy, your hair is beyond redemption. I guess you better wear a brown bag out once I’m done with you.” But what the heck! I just left my hair to the specialist, hoping that he could salvage what’s left of my hair. A little trim here and there and it are done. I got my RM 15 haircut from a hairstylist.

Was it good? Well, this was what Rowen said before I got my hair cut:

your hair’s like a girl’s hairstyle.

And this is what he said after I got my hair cut:

your hair’s like a girl’s hairstyle.

Ernest was speechless. My father was just dumbfounded with me and my short hair. And all this while, he was the one who wanted me to have short hair so eagerly. The irony. My house servant was laughing hysterically, thinking that the change of hairstyle was due to me breaking up (how could I break up with someone I’m not with in the first place, huh? ).
Justin was the 1st person not of my family to find out about my appearance. He was just shocked, and never imagined I would have short hair (but what can you expect from a buddy who has been looking at you so long, and yet is bald… *sigh*)

I guess there wasn’t much different, just the fact it’s now shorter, and it’s much neater than before. But one thing for sure, it’s short!

But hey, look at the good side! At least I get to wear a bandana around properly, and I get to gel up my hair after not gelling it for a long, long time…. now, where’s that black bandana? But for now, let me just lay low for awhile… bout three or four months before I meet anybody else.

i'm on the right, Eunice is on the left... and the picture is blur.... and we thought the people in the picture are blur. BlurChu? and the blur girl, Eunice. maybe the camera fellow's blur too. ergo, blur picture! Posted by Hello

with a cake like this, i was wondering if i was at a farewell party, or a FUNERAL SERVICE! HAHAHA!~ Posted by Hello

at Eunice's farewell party. Eunice is the gal in black. Kevan can only be thinking of chocolate when this photo was taken. Justin & his plastic packet, me & the toy hammer, to knock him silly. Alwin is, well... Alwin!  Posted by Hello

farewell, Eunice. part 1:SURPRISES!

well, last night was a night to remember! A night where we fellowshipped, and ate till we were guilty of gluttony. It was Eunice's farewell party.

yup. Eunice, our church friend will be leaving for UK this Wednesday (tomorrow), to continue her studies. So, a few of us decided to throw her a surprise party! And a lot of things were a surprise to us too!~

1st surprise: we ambushed her by sneaking up on her when she came into Kevin's and Rachel's place (the venue of the party.) she came unprepared, thinking it was just another casual visit with Ernest and Angeline! And we caught her off guard!

2nd surprise: kevan was also petrified in the process, due to mistaken identity! hahaha!~

3rd surprise: there was fellowship, chocolate and chips. We were all startled when Christopher came by with not only cake, but with PIZZA! And FOUR boxes! Wow!~

4th surprise: the cake itself. The picture will explain it all. As they say; a picture is worth a thousand words!

5th surprise: with 3 tubs of ice-cream, we were dumbfounded that we couldn't eat all the ice-cream. it was of good quality (SARA LEE butterscotch & honeycomb and strawberry & cream, plus another Wall’s ice-cream. can't remember what's it called, but it's definitely chocolatety and expensive!) but what can we do? We had a lot before the ice-cream was served. *burp*

and after the food, we kept talking and talking. Nicholas, Justin and I played a little football outside, barefooted. And we came back in to talk later. i tell you the stuff downloaded in Eunice's laptop... nonsense, nonsense and nonsense! can believe that guy was digging his nose! *wink*

well, all's well ends well. Most of us when back at around 1:30 am. But i have to admit something. Most of the time before eating, I wasn't there with the festivity... I was else where (this... is P&C). Anyway, she'll be flying off soon. Hopefully, I can send her off tomorrow morning. Hopefully.

i cut my hair!

it seems like it's our culture here to misuse this phrase "I cut my hair" or "go cut your cut". it does unjust to the proper use of English. It’s like telling someone you're going to take a pair of scissors and trim off your hair, instead of leaving the scissors in the hands of the barber/hairstylist. Or telling the other fellow off by asking him/her to cut his/her own hair as a punishment for being un-presentable before you. Anyway, it should be *GO GET A HAIRCUT!* or *GET YOUR HAIR CUT!*

but i cut my hair. Literally, with every word meant, i cut my own hair.

funny, some of you who knows me will like "what's wrong with Bernard? Cutting off his long hair? Has the world gone nuts? Did the sun rise from the west today? Did he get up from the wrong side of the bed?" and an endless list of questions regarding my sanity will pop-up.

anyway, there is a reason for me cutting my hair. But I’ll tell you that much only (there's a line between telling your experience. thoughts and sharing your privacy here.) anyway, I got up around 8 am today, took a pair of scissors, rubber band and comb, hit the shower and took a bath. After that, I prepared myself to the execution. I tied my hair, faced the mirror, and cut my hair. Well, it isn't as simple as it is in Boyence's music video clip me, myself and I. cutting straight lines isn't my expertise. But to CUT the long story short, my hair isn't as long as it used to be.

and my dad was the first to notice it. And he questioned me. *argh* it's kinda awkward lah.... you know those feeling you get after you come out of the barbershop. The I-don't-think-my-hair-is-properly-cut kind of feeling. I’m experiencing it now. And it has been 3 months since i got my hair trimmed (but it was still long then.) perhaps I might go to the hair saloon in the afternoon. Then, i'll get my hair cut punk style!

hahaha!~

so, farewell i bid to my long hair. Welcome many days of short and perhaps neat hair. No more criticisms bout having another "girl" around or having weird hairstyles (but i do miss braided hair! *sigh*). And now, a true man appears!

and now, to tie up these packets of nuts with those rubber bands!

FREAKY FRIDAY (with no reference to the movie)

well, there's no weird both transfer experience here, nor hot chicks involved, but the reason for choosing the title was because it happened on a Friday (17/09/2004). Hectic would be the word, but FREAKY FRIDAY sounds catchy!

anyway, it was regarding the combined youth meeting we had in church. My Home Group was in-charge of the praise and worship session. Kevan lead, with me and my brother, Ernest as the back-up. We *imported* Jeremy & Justin into the band. With the idea of having the session unplugged, we had Justin on guitar, Jeremy with the percussions, and me with the tambourine & the eggs percussion thingy). With practices, a line up of good songs, and a great team, and theme (Hawaii style theme), what can go wrong.

yeah, almost EVERYTHING!~

but it did... we did not manage to prepare properly before the session started, rushed by our pastor, and the transparencies and OHP weren't prepared. Panicked and shattered we were, but we decided to push all. And by God's grace, we manage to pull it off, and when through it.

the speaker of the night was a pastor (can't remember his name) from Russian, hanging awhile here in Malaysia. And the topic was about 180 degrees turn around. What he preached was fairly good, but a little draggy. Then, from this I realize not everyone in the youth is sharp. Majority of the youths are SLOW! This was what the pastor said that caught them off guard :

*I’m using the New King James Version bible... and when I preach to people, sometimes I say I use the New-KGB bible....*

got the joke? Well, I did? But most of them didn't *sigh*

anyway, it was a fairly ok Friday... and oh, I almost forgot. STEPHEN MEGAM came visiting us! And when i first saw him with the lame white t-shirt, faded jeans and sandals, i utter these words :

*nice t-shirt, Stephen!*

hahaha!~

anyway, he was great lah! we went for Hokkien noodles later in KL. And while the food was good, the conversation was corrupted. I pity Jeremy for being there. This under-aged kid has been polluted by the words and ideology of Stephenism. God, deliver Jeremy from evil! But I really enjoyed the fellowship and food. it was awesome. and it was great to see you again, Stephen. Might see you and Sharon and Fiona and Ronald etc. soon... PLANET SHAKERS concert, perhaps?

was the Friday that bad? Well, if you ask me. It’s FREAKLY FUN!~

a long, fun day today!

wow!~

the unexpected happened today. Something that would never occured to me has actually come to pass, and it was just shocked: Sharon came to my church!

hahaha!~

it was weird to see a gal coming down to Ampang, all the way from Subang! And Kevan, you can really persuade people! Anyway, we did enjoy ourselves today despite me serving in the music team, and both Justin and Kevan aren't. (but we'll all be next week!)

after service, the three of us were playing *football*. probably the last day since there are going to change the carpeting of the children's church this week. And both kevan and justin loss to my team, made out of amateurs! hahaha!~ and pity Sharon. Not only she has to see us play, but had to endure our smelly, stinky body... and was try her best to avoid being hugged!

after a hearty lunch, we all gathered at my house, and we took photos, and watched I, Robot... well, sort of watched lah. They all went back in the middle of the movie.

well, Sharon, it was fun having you over! Probably we might go for the PLANET SHAKERS concert this Friday. See you then!

and I slept about 50 minutes pass the movie.... I was so tired! and continued watching the movie after I woke up.... about 10:30 pm (right after Smallville, watched the ending part only. *sigh*) I’m going to sleep soon.... have to get up early tomorrow... I mean, LATER!

PS I didn't even know that my brother was back home till i went upstair an hour ago!
PSS and it was Justin's birthday... yesterday. HAPPY BLESSED 20TH BIRTHDAY! And like me, he's no longer a teenager!
