All assignments and presentation are done and over with... and with all that behind, and exams to look forward to (?!), i decided to take a break and catch a few movies before hitting the study desk. Here are the movies i've watched so far (in no particular order):
Meet the Robinsons
Yesterday, Alex Hooi, Pek Mei and I watch this movie after their presentation for Creative Strategy for Advertising was done with – the finale of all presentations and assignments.
Another feel good 3-D movie from Disney, which revolves around the theme of sense of belonging (family), time traveling and perseverence; moving forward despite of failures.
The movie was somewhat predictable, but for RM6, it was worth it lah.
Plus, there was an interesting quote from Walt Disney at the end of the movie.
"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."
Tiny the T-Rex was cute!
Mukhsin
The story touched on how a friendship between a boy and a girl, which blossom into 'infatuation' and somewhat became awkward along the way.
The underlining sub-themes are interesting as well – like foreign-cultural influences, family-comes-first, the effects of polygamy on the first wife, etc.
I wonder why it took too long for us Malaysia to accept our own movie, until it won the Grand Prix by the Kinderfilmfest International Jury and a Generation K-Plus Crystal Bear Special Mention at the 57th Berlin International Film festival. Kudos to Yasmin Ahmad for what she's done!
Do click HERE for more details on the movie.
I find the ending to be interesting; especially the last two lines. What are they? Do watch them yourselves.
Bridge to Terabithia
Another story between two friends, and the fantasy world the brought to live - with imagination and an open mind.
I guess why many were turned off by this movie is because audiences were expecting action from Terathibia itself (since the two main characters, Jesse and Leslie were the 'rulers' of this place.) However, the story basically revolves around their friendship, and the things that goes around their lives, like family and school.
Towards the end, the movie does touch on accepting the facts of life, and that life must go on, no matter what. Oh, and not forgetting that it talks about how the memories left behind, should be put into good use to impact others.
"She brought you something special when she came here, didn't she?"
- Jack Aarons, from Bridge to Terabithia
Mr Bean's Holiday
Last Monday, i watch this ridiculous movie with Chee Been (ironically, he almost look like Mr Bean himself!), Chin Han and Soo Yee. This was one of my impulsive, think-not-of-consequences decisions i made.
In the whole movie, Mr Bean was just plain dumb-lucky (literally), from trying to eat raw seafood and keeping awake while driving to saving the day for everyone in the movie with the video he took - everything he does is just darn unbelievable. But the ending was lousy.
I personally prefered how the first movie ended. But i know this from watching both the Mr Bean movie; my IQ dropped a few points.
Now, how am i going to study for my finals?!
Love & Peace!~
