Nope, it isn't a market where dozens of wet, smelly dogs laze around waiting for the fleas on their backs to hitch hike a ride on another dog or human. Neither do they sell bags of fleas to be cooked.
It's basically a place where people set up stalls to selling old, used stuff. Anything ranging from old antiques, toys, books and more importantly, music vinyl discs and CDs! Original CDs!
Yesterday after lunch at Amcorp Mall, Kimberley, Derek (Kim's bf) and i walked around the flea market there and looking at stuff they have to sell. It was like walk into a place where time has forgotten. Or perhaps it's like walking through the past (if that made more sense!) I'm impressed that they even have rusted keris and Chinese swords on display. But the main highlight is the CDs there!
Can you believe used, poorly maintained yet original CDs are sold at RM10 per piece!? Yes, the CD might have scratches and the lyric booklet torn, but it's still original! And the best part is you can find good music CDs that aren't available anymore in stores!
I got myself Matchbox Twenty's Mad Season and Hootie and The Blowfish's Cracked Rear View for only RM18! But Kim got a better deal; her untouched Renee Olstead CD, which normally costed at a jazz CD price of RM60 was bought at only RM10! Plus, Derek bought another CD, Sliverchair to add up the total purchase of RM18.
Hootie and The Blowfish's Cracked Rear View. Listening to it and loving it!
I personally believe that a flea market isn't a flea market. Rather, it's a F.L.E.A. market (Functionable-yet-Left-behind Equipments and Antiques Market). This is definately one place i'll come back. I think i'll bring Rowen along next time to see the antique war uniforms they have there. My dad would be estactic, seeing old stuff from the past up for sale there. I would be back for more original CDs!
Love & Peace!~
