Lousy song leader. Not a complete band. Bad guitarist. Handsome bassist. These are some of the things you hear when you are in amidst a group of worshippers in church, cell group, or a Christian Fellowship meeting. But does it really matter to have the prefect band, right pitch and a list of up-beat, spirit lifting songs?
I’ve learnt something about that today, as I was at a printing company in Puchong. Since majority of its employees were Christians, they have a weekly Christian Fellowship. Today, Ms Angelina, Jason, Lai Seng and I were there to get the booklet for the MEGA EVENT done. We’ve decided to join the fellowship we were there. The majority of the attendances were of the senior age, we were the young ones. And what caught my attention wasn’t the fact that Reverend Cornelius Perez was invited to speak, but the fact that the congregation was all fired up for God, despite of their age. No shaky kneecaps or backbone ache are stopping them from worshipping Him. Neither is the off key singing nor poor guitar strumming prevented us from going or the way. That is what I define as cool!
And the talk preached by Reverend Cornelius was good. He was talking about faith and believing. Well, it is important to have faith in Him, but more importantly, to believe in Him. That’s the simple basis of being a believer. And he gave his testimonies about himself, being in the Navy, creating the proton filter thingy, going up Colorado with an empty tank and relying on Jesus to carry on till he reached the gas station, his mission trips. All were awesome, as we hear about the wonders of believing in Christ.
After that, Lai Seng, Jason and I return to the campus to find that Ms Elise, Christy, Martha and Mary are still praying. We joined in, told them about the sermon, and prayed with them. Prayer is indeed important, and we need it in doing everything in our life, as we are doing it unto Him.
Hmmm… I wonder why the older seniors are more fired up than the youths is. What spurs them to stop all work and focus to Him, while we youths try to find excuses to skip prayer meetings? Ironic, eh? I guess it all boils down to the fact it’s the heart of worship that matters.
*when the music fades
all is stripped away
and I simply come
knowing just to bring
something that’s of worth
that will bless your heart
I’ll bring you more than a song
for a song in itself
is not what you have required
you have searched much deeper within
to the way things appear
You’re looking into my heart*
And birthday baby of the day is Hui Wen! She turns 20 today, and I haven’t got her anything yet… me still cracking my head to think of a good gift. And Shi How’s was yesterday. That 22 year old uncle is cool, with the tail and all! I took a photo with him at practice yesterday; will post photos of the events up soon.
*burp* had too a little too much at McDonald’s just now, while fellowshipping with Jason, Lai Seng, Christy, Mary and Martha. Must relax a little!
