Tangled in the Wireless Web.

This afternoon, while typing in my work, my computer abruptly shut off when my boss when and check on the modem in the office. Unable to get the several computers in the office back on due to the power regulator (i think) failing on us, i hurried back to my room to get my laptop.

Once i got back to the office and started up my laptop, i immediately checked if there were any Wifi connectivity around my office. And to my surprise, there are almost two dozens hot stops around my office, with most of them encrypted.

Thank goodness i managed to piggyback on one wireless connection, and send all my work down to KL on time! Though, i wish i within the one of the 26 free WiFi hot spots the Chief Minister of this island promised.

Though, i don't get it why there are those who object the CM's plan for free wifi spots in several places in the state. No, it'll not blanket the whole island like a net cast out to sea, but in several business areas in the state, and it will not cover residential and public areas.

I know a friend who is against this project, and he is in cahoots with NGOs who are against telco-towers set up here as well.

If you ask me, if you want to be away from all this WiFi waves - stay in a jungle, away from civilisation! After all, are we exposed to many WiFi waves even as we speak or read this blog?

IMHO, i would rather be surrounded by free WiFi access (and die because of these brain cancer-induced waves) rather than be around locked WiFi access (and die in vain)!

With all this said, i just hope i can use my computer again tomorrow....

Love & Peace!~
