DAY 4 - June 4

Isn't this puppy adorable?! This was what Clictus, Esther and i stumbled upon when we were getting some notes photostated at a stationary shop nearby the Heng Ee roundabout. As much as i want to adopt this cute mutt, there's no space in my life to adopt him yet.


DAY 5 - June 5

Kryptonite juice you might ask? Regardless of what is in it, both Melissa D and i managed to collect all six Coca-Cola glass cans from McDonald's. These glasses will be part of our house in the near future.

Expect to be served with Pepsi, 100 plus or orange juice in these glasses.


DAY 6 - June 6

One of the typical scene when i'm not in the office; i'll be somewhere else, with my laptop, rushing in my work to my superiors.

I personally believe that i need to pull up my socks, be more disciplined and responsible in carrying out my duty. I have to admit that i had taken advantage of my boss' trust, and i need to repent and amend my ways. After all, i represent my company, and there is a certain standards to fulfill to be part of it.

Three in one 365

Argh! I keep forgetting to post up the photos! So, i decided to put it all up at once.

Here you are, what has been going on in June so far.

DAY 1

This is my car, parked in an alley some 2km away from my office. Parking spots are a scarce here on the island. After all, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said there are some 2 million vehicles on the road despite the fact there are only 1.6 million Penangites.

And someone left a note on my car later that day, saying that i blocked the passage way and risked getting scratched. *sigh*



DAY 2

Claims, claims, claims! One of the important routines to do early in the month. My colleagues and i did not get our claims last month, but my boss managed to talk to HR, and we're getting it this month! Hurray!


DAY 3

What does a napkin and a ring depicted here got to do with anything? I forgot to take photos earlier, but Melissa D and i purchased our wedding bands, and we ate at Kim Gary with Andrea.

Snap a Day at a Time!

June is here!

That means we're in the middle of the year, right?

Anyway, a few of my friends on facebook have been doing posting up pictures i was thinking of doing the 365 Project, as it is done HERE.

It's a photography project which aims to document each day of your life in a year, through a picture a day.

I'm not signing up just yet, but i'll be doing something like that on this blog.

The pictures posted are those taken from my mobile phone, and an article will be included with each picture.

The first one will be expected to go up tonight (fingers crossed!)

Gasp!

Gosh!

I have not posted anything for such a long time. I'm bad. *sigh*

Anyway, been busy with work. I'm doing slightly below okay at the moment.

With a dozen of plans to think about as the Vacation Bible School in RGBC (Reservoir Garden Baptist Church, where i'm a regular now) looms closer, both Melissa and i need to plan ahead for our leave as well as wedding at the end of the year.

Not to mention the S&P for the house which will be happening next month. We're both anxious and excited about it... as with great powers, comes great responsibilities.

A lot is on my plate, but i need to look to God, and do my best in getting them done.

June's coming. As we ponder what has been done in the past weeks, let's look forward to the future!

It's back on track!

Finally, it has reopened for the public!

The Penang Hill funicular train is now operational and is able to take tourists up the iconic state landmark.

Last week, it was opened for charity. For RM10, one can go up and down the ride on the new-and-improved funicular train. Children get to go up for free.

On Monday when it was reopen to the public after it was closed for upgrades about a year ago, there were many who decided to take the opportunity to travel with the train. Making use of their day off work, going on a school trip or just simply wanting to be the first up the new ride, which takes about 10 minutes from bottom to top - they just wanna ride it.

From today onwards, it'll be priced at RM8 for Malaysian adults and RM4 for children below 12, while it'll be RM30 for foreigners.

Well, it's more expensive as compared to the RM4 for adults in the past, since time moved on, inflation sets in and hey, there's using new technology. Plus, it's air-conditioned!

But i don't think the corporation in-charge of the train service should charge so high for foreigners, or it might work against them. Even though they might benefit more from the currency exchange, but over-pricing items is not the way to go.... let's hope for a lower price then!

Honestly, what irks me about this is the gargantuan signboard up there. Yes, we know it's Penang Hill... and thank you for obviously stating on it this notice - Projek Kementerian Pelancongan Malaysia Kerajaan Barisan Nasional kepada Penduduk-Penduduk Pulau Pinang (translation: A project by the Tourism Ministry of the Barisan Nasional Government for the People of Penang).

You don't have to remind us... i think people read the newspaper or news portals, right?

So, should the people spend a few hundred thousand ringgit to build another billboard underneath that says "Terima Kasih kepadamu" (Thank you... you!)?

Well, whatever it is, let's hope that huge board does not pose a threat to anyone going up the hill.

Do check it out if you're in Penang for a visit or a Penangite who have not gone up the tourist attraction in a long time.

By the way, you can reach the top area of the hill via jeep as well. It's a little more expensive, but the trip's fun and wacky. Or, just hike it from the Botanic Garden!

Anyway, Happy Labour Day and keep on smiling. You would need to go back to work later!

Beaten over the weekend?

No one was abused over the weekend, nor was there a fist fight which went on in a school.

But a lot happened over the weekend.

Melissa D and me were among those who helped Clictus at the Radiant Discovery Amusement Centre (game booth) during the Methodist Girls' School (Penang) Pestaria 2011 on Saturday!

While Melissa handled the Sudoku station, i was in-charge of the Bottle-up station. What is it all about? It's simple a carnival game where one has to make a glass bottle stand on a slanted platform by using a 'fishing rod' with a ring at the end of it.

But after arranging the bottle one time too many, and when the fund-raising event was over, we were all dead tired. But my ordeal started the following day, when my legs hurt like mad!

It was so bad, that i could hardly walk on Sunday!

And to add salt to the wound, this was what happened to my car while the Pestaria was going on.

Yes, someone actually hit into my car. Note that the excess part of the car IS NOT part of my car, but a souvenir left by the person who scrapped through my car.

What a day!

And not to mention, Barisan Nasional won two-third of the seats in the recent Sarawak state elections on that night

Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is sworn in as the Chief Minister. Again.

And there are those who were frustrated that BN is still the government in Sarawak.

But i was encouraged by what Pastor Palan said in church the follwoing day, that "God works in ways we do not understand."

Well, to look into these matters through another perspective, i believe not all's bad.

I mean, there are more seats held by the Pakatan Rakyat this time around, and some heavyweight, like SUPP's Tan Sri Dr George Chan took a beating from the elections. Maybe there's something bigger which is yet to come!

And at least i can still drive my car around, and it's just scratches on the side. My Werb Boom Boom can move fine!

And so does my legs... but it's time to hit the gym, and beat myself up to shape! And God is good!

Easter's coming. Just remember, Jesus Christ died for your sins, readers!

A Day

While waiting in traffic on the way to work, what else can you do besides listening to the radio, eating breakfast, scolding the slower driver who is holding up traffic and texting?

Yeah, that was my breakfast this morning as i was heading off to work.

Why peach-flavoured yogurt?
Because it's better than kiwi yogurt.

Why it the lighting to bright?
Because it was not raining... and i put the wrong setting.

Why were there so many cars at that time?
Because everyone is going to work or school... or somewhere.

Just for kicks!

Getting Blackberry-ed?

Last week, my colleagues and I were given instructions to sign-up for a Blackberry each.

Honestly, I'm happy to get a BB myself. It will be nifty to get work done will on the go without bringing the laptop around, and I'm accessible to the Internet (almost) anywhere! (Plus, I can blog more often... But that's a matter of discipline.)

But after we discussed with our KL colleagues, a few questions popped up - like whether the whole BB was paid by us or the company? Who'll pay for the usage? Does the BB ultimately belong to us or not?

We were a little worried.

No updates bout this yet. But will blog about it once the deal goes through.

Somewhat, it fits the timing now, with the state elections in Sarawak. Do read it with an open mind and a sense of humour.

Heaven vs Hell 

Whilst walking down the street one day a Malaysian “Boleh” Minister is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in HEAVEN and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. 

St. Peter: Welcome to HEAVEN. Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you. 

Yang Berhormat: No problem, just let me in. 

St. Peter: Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we’ll do is you have to spend one day in HELL and one in HEAVEN. Then you can chose, where to spend eternity. 

Yang Berhormat: Really, I have made up my mind. I want to be in HEAVEN. 

St. Peter: I’m sorry, but we have our rules.

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down, down to HELL. 

The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course.
In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it, are all his friends and other politicians who had worked for him.
Everyone is very happy and dressed in the finest batik there is. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.
They play a friendly game of golf and then indulge themselves on lobsters, caviar and the most expensive food. 

Also present is the DEVIL , who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realises it, it is time to go.
Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises. 

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in HEAVEN where St. Peter is waiting for him. 

St. Peter: Now it’s time to visit HEAVEN. 

So, 24 hours pass with the Yang Berhormat joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing.
They have a good time and, before he realises it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns. 

St. Peter: Well, then, you have spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity. 

Yang Berhormat: Well, I would never have said it before. I mean HEAVEN has been delightful, but I think I am better off in HELL. 

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to HELL. Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in a middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. 

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The DEVIL comes over to him and puts his hands around his shoulder. 

Yang Berhormat: I don’t understand. Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened? 

The DEVIL(smilingly): Yesterday we were campaigning just like you during an election…Today you VOTED.

Moral of the story? USE YOUR VOTE INTELLIGENTLY !!!

It's all part of the job.

As i was going back from Balik Pulau, this was the wonderful view i got to witness. Green, dipped with blue under the open sky and bright sun; it just reminds me how great and creative God is.

And why i enjoy my job.

I maybe running late on that day, almost crashed into the divider twice, and wasted a little time before i could get back to office, but i'm happy with what i do.

That one hour....

Between 8.30pm and 9.30pm, this was what i was viewing from my place.

So, did you support Earth Hour this year? Many did by turning off their non-essential lights, gathering outside in the public, and official, iconic buildings had their lights out to observe that one hour - to reflect on how we can conserve the energy and the environment... and not to mention to remember victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan.

But should we just leave it as a yearly event? Or should we put into practice to save energy and stop wasting resources? Remember, we do not inherit nature from our ancestors, we just borrow it from our children.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Had a good fellowship and 'fei-low'-ship time with family and friends yesterday, on the first day of the Chinese New Year.

Been spending time with my brothers, and it was good to catch up and see what is happening in their lives; not to mention the tales they shared as we munch down on burgers and fries at Carl's Jr.

I wish Melissa D was down here in KL with me, though. She was down in a fever, and i wish i could be by her side, taking care of her. Thank goodness she bounced back fast enough to visit her relatives.
And looks like from next year onwards, the tables will turn for both Melissa D and i, where instead of receiving ang pows, we'll be giving them. For now, anyone who asks me for an angpow, i don't mind giving them one... those empty, red packets, of course. Do wait lah!

Anyway, whether you believe it or not, may the year of the rabbit bring goodness, prosperity, love and joy be with you and your family always.

Staying home and online.

At this point, i'm away from the island.

Right now, i'm with my family in Rawang. Last year, my family moved from Sri Petaling to this place while i was away living/working on the island. Honestly, i'm adapting to this place as it is pretty far from town and friends. *sigh*

Anyway, as i am typing this entry, i wonder if i should continue blogging or not.

Most of the time, i spent updating is on facebook, and occasionally, i go on twitter. I honestly wonder if blogging is still the way to go with these social network sprouting out in the past few years, and more and more people going onto this bandwagon. Not to mention other websites such as tubler, flickr and so on which are available for uploading pictures.

For the moment, i would continue to maintain this blog, and hope to put in more effort into updating it.

Anyway, for those heading home for the Chinese New Year celebration, please get home safely, ok?
