I'm Sorry - part 1

Dear Melissa D,

I love you, and i'm sorry for breaking and hurting you. But if it did not happened, we will not move on to the next level of our relationship, and things would still be murky, eh? We have a lot to learn, and we need time to mature and understand one another, eh?

Let's do our best to be better, and put God before us, ok?

I'm sorry, and I love you, dear.

Happy 2nd Anniversary.

"...I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
That's why i need you to hear

I've found out a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is You..."

Locked-up dreams.

Honestly, i feel as if the whole world is against me. Me against the world, with no one by my side to support my dreams, aspirations and hope.

Ever since i was young, i find that difficult to dream, even for a small thing. Sometimes i think dreams are for dreamers who can't walk the talk. Sometimes, it's the elders who shut you down, bringing you back to rotten reality.

I thought i can dream again as i'm entering the next stage of my life; but i might be wrong.

But recently, i find if it's to make others happy, it's best to cast your dreams aside.

Now, i'm locking whatever dreams i have, to keep the one i love happy. It's a sacrifice, but perhaps it's for the best.

Perhaps i'll visit them, one day, when i have the chance to do so. For now, i'm locking them up behind the door....

"Quiet
Seems like an honest world
You're begging for the baker's bread when the money's out
Stand, climb, and fall
You carry the world
Can't carry your hope..."

The unbreakable and intangible.

On Tuesday night, when i was about to retire for the day, i notice something unusual - my engagement ring broke.

The white gold ring broke as before i took it out of my ring finger, as i always did before. Few weeks ago, the same thing happened to Melissa D's engagement ring, and we got it repaired recently.

So, before i freaked out and thought that it was a impending bad omen which would end our relationship, i came to a conclusion that it was just a item which broke and it has nothing to do with our wonderful relationship that we have.

So, this just proves four points:

1. I've purchased an expensive, flimsy ring.

2. It's time to go on a diet.

3. Time to purchase a nicer ring, which i did!

4. I need to be more careful in the future.

On the bright side, the new, cheaper ring i have is awesome!

A trip back to where was house, part 1:To Mr and Mrs Phua!

And this was after they said "I do".

Congratulations to both Kevan and Angeline for tying the knot! Both Melissa D and i were glad to be able to witness the process where two individuals officially become a unit, and be present at your wedding!

Once again, Mr and Mrs Phua (jr), congratulations and may this next course of your life been filled with joy and excitement as both of you embark on this new chapter in life with God leading the both of you.

And nonetheless, it was good to be able to meet up a few CF friends, like Tan Jo-Anne, Darren and Justin Tan. Will remember to choose a better venue to meet up next time!

Going out with my brothers wasn't a bad thing... i hope to meet up with them more often, for movies and makan, if possible.

Alyssa and Justin Yap!

And it was a great to be able to see the bundle of joy both Justin Yap and Sher-Mayne have. Alyssa's just so cute! Hopefully, both of you have a great time nurturing and seeing this little gift of God blossom before you.

And i hope to meet others in the future, including former school mates and university friends!

Anxious or simply excited?

I'm stoned. Not from over consumption of drugs or alcohol in the system, but rather due to the lack of sleep. Either way, being stoned was never a good thing, unless you really have nothing to do.

And i'm currently recovering from a flu, but i'm coping with it. Hours ago, i had breakfast and entered into the office before anyone else did, and sat in front of the computer. Didn't get much done, since i can't focus on what to do first; this is one of the effects of being stoned.

Why can't i sleep in the first place? Maybe it's due to the fact that both Melissa D and i are heading down to KL in the evening, right after work.

We'll be down for Kevan and Angeline's wedding on Saturday, and to spend time with Rowen and Ernest and some friends. Can't meet more since we have a tight schedule.

I pray i can go through the day in this condition.

Have a great weekend, anyway!

Let's Celebrate!

Yesterday, the busy little town of George Town, Penang, had a different vibe. Not with the hustle and bustle of the hectic working life, rather, it came to life with the local and foreign tourist as well as the locals buzzing around the inner-city, in conjunction with the second anniversary of George Town's inscription as the Unesco World Heritage Site.

Themed 'Unforgettable George Town', the day-long celebration dished out various events of art, food, culture, photography, exhibitions, and other elements here.

The state government, agencies, NGOs, stakeholders, and locals came together and carried out several activities throughout the day.

I was fortunate to be able to see Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, officiating the event at Town Hall in Esplanade here, and followed him and his entourage of state officials around several places.

Melissa D and i traveled to several places on foot (mind you, we were strictly working then), walking around the Clan Jetties, Lebuh Chulia, Lebuh Acheh and Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling.

It was a sight to be seen; people walking around and snapping pictures around historical buildings here as they absorb the culture and heritage values of the place. I enjoyed the atmosphere.

Life would be fun if events like this were carried out every day... but that would be too darn taxing for everyone living in the core and buffer zones of the heritage site. Plus, there would be little productivity to the economy.

I'm looking forward to what the state has to offer next year. You can check out what else is going on at www.georgetownfestival.com

You were there for me.

I (was) at one of my low points throughout my life over the weekend.

Somehow, issues which have been bugging me, which could affect my future and my life. And all these things come crashing down on me.

These thoughts weighed me down like the weight of the world upon my shoulders, and it left me useless, with no control of the things around me.

Honestly, i felt like everything was against me.

But i thank God that He is here in my life, lifting me up up when things look down. And i thank Him for bringing Melissa D to my life.

She surprises me by encouraging me, saying the right words, and being by my side. Those actions just put a smile on my face.

After all, behind every successful man there is a woman, ya?

Like she tries her best to be there for me, i'll do the same for her.

"A promise or a dare
I would jump if I knew you'd catch me
Staring over the edge
I can't tell if you'll be here for me

I close my eyes and make a wish
Turn out the lights and take a breath
Pray that when the wick is burned
You would say that it's all about love

You were there when I needed you
You were there when the skies broke wide, wide open...."

We're halfway through....

Wow, it's July 1, and we're now halfway through 2010. How has the past six months been treating you?

Honestly, both Melissa D and i are engaged for six months, and we're been together in this courtship for almost two years. Going through thick and thin, what put us through all this were God's mercy and grace, love, understand, communication and commitment we have for one another, among other things.

I'm in the midst of looking for a new place to stay as about one month's time, i'll be evicted from the place i'm currently staying.

As both of us are getting married early next year, there are a lot of things i need to look at. I need to get an affordable house to live in and a good car to bring me places as well as plan our future finances and what not.

During the past six months, i learnt that planning is utmost importance to maintain relationship, save money and get things done. And i pray both Melissa D and i can get plan better for ourselves and others in the near future.

We still have a long way to go, but i believe God is guiding and leading us, day by day.

"...We've got to hold on to what we've got
Cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot
For love - we'll give it a shot

We're half way there
Livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it I swear
Livin' on a prayer..."

To get the cash in.

Sometimes, you need to hit the iron while it's hot. Sometimes, a chicken wing gets hot when you turn it on ! Isn't that something?

Gotta update this blog, as my secondary income... a lot of people are doing so... and now, here i am doing that.

Let's go!

It's not like i care... but i'm not ignorant as well.

Not too long ago, i found out that the girl i once had a crush on got hitched in May.

We haven't been in contact for a couple of years now, maybe that's for the best. But i can't help feeling a little empty inside. Maybe i'm just being emotional today, being drained from several events.

If i say i'm indifferent about this matter, i would be lying. I can't do much but wish this gal all her best in this next step of life with her spouse.

For now, both Melissa D and i are planning for our wedding next year, with less than eight months to go.

On that one special day, i be by her side as we read our vows to love one another as husband and wife as we love God, in front of our family and friends.

For now, I'm reminded that i'm engaged to a wonderful, loving and kind fiancee, and i have God for me, who has great things awaiting me.

On a brighter note, not too long ago, my buddy's wife gave birth to a beautiful baby Alyssa.

Congratulations to both Justin Yap and Sher-Mayne! May you both nurture this gift from God according to His way, and love and cherish her everyday!

For now, no Cheah junior(s) for Melissa D and me, but one day, according to God's timing. I leave it all in our caring and awesome Jesus.

Of Fingers and Numbers

If i had typed anything last Saturday night, my right thumb would hurt a lot. Reason being was i was holding power tools, an electric drill in particular, a lot during the day. What was i doing?

I was helping out the church's children pastor, Pastor Danny, to 'build' several masts for the upcoming Vacation Bible School, VBS for short, in mid-June.

Themed High-Sea Expedition, this 4-day camp would expect over 100 kids would be having fun, while learning God's Word through exciting activities. I would be part of the Games Station crew, and VBS'll be a splashing good time!

And with this, i had to take a few days off to commit, and i realised, i have less than a week's worth of leaves until the year ends.

Honestly, no one is to be blamed here. I took many days off for Chinese New Year as well as the church mission trip in February and March respectively. Only i am responsible for this pickle.

And my (leave) days are numbered indeed, leaving me a few days off for the rest of the year, and i might come down to KL, maybe once or twice this year. One of them will be for Kevan and Angeline's wedding in July.

Not to mention i would want to take leave for Church camp and Christmas as well. *sigh*

I treasure my leave days, very much. Hopefully, i would be wiser in dispensing them next year, with the wedding looming by.

Nine more months to go. A lot of planning to do. Keeping my fingers crossed and prayer close to heart.

"I watch as the daylight crawls
past the shadows hanging on the walls
it's been a long time since I felt the stains
of yesterday getting in my way

I'm alive but tell me am I free
I've got eyes but tell me can I see
the sky is falling and no one knows
we shouldn't be hard to believe
shouldn't be this difficult to breathe
the sky is falling and no one knows..."

Seriously...?

Honestly, i've been staring at the computer, wondering what to type out.

I've been on facebook and doing some reading online, and nothing is coming out until now.

Although i have a few things to blog about, i'm not in the mood to do it. *argh*

I've gotta churn something out soon....

Fiddling at a Funeral.

Technically, i'll be playing the bass at church for a memorial service of a former church member tomorrow morning.

A 31-year old lawyer here on the island passed away on Mother's Day. I don't know this guy personally, but his death left an impact to many in church, especially those who were closed to him.

The truth is he has back slided, but he had in mind to return to church one day.

"But i never expect him to come in (to church) such manner," said one church friend.

In his will, this chap requested that songs such as Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace were to be sang at his memorial service tomorrow morning.

He reminded me, if not many of us, that life's too short - too short to complaint, to murmer, to be sad and regret. Life is of that like a fluttering of a butterfly. Graceful at the moment, gone the next.

I remember a friend wrote, 'if we were to live like we were dying, we are no different than beggars.'

I beg to defer. I believe if we live with no sense of direction, without purpose, one day after another, THAN we are like beggars living on the day's grace.

Life's too short... live it as lively as fireworks in the sky - bright and great!

"...I went sky divin',
I went rocky mountain climbin',
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull name Fumanchu.
And I loved deeper,
And I spoke sweeter,
And I gave forgiveness I've been denying,
And he said someday I hope you get the chance,
To live like you were dying...."

From the Bottom of My Heart

To my mummy in Heaven.
To women in my life, whom i consider a mother in many ways.
To friends who have become mothers themselves.
And those who have become grandmothers to their children's children.
To my step-mom.
To those who are expecting; on the way to motherhood.
And to those who would one day be a mother, such as my dear herself.

HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!

Without your guidance, teachings, love and dedication, i do not think i would be the man i am today. I would not know how to respect women, love one and be a man. Thank you.
